One of the biggest things I wanted to when I was in high school was become a captain of the football team. The reason I wanted to be the captain football team was because in our school the only two main sports we had was football and basketball. we weren't really good in any other sports besides those two.
So I made that a goal for myself ever since I was a freshman in high school. But I new that you couldn't be a captain tell you were either a junior or senior. So for my first two years of high school I tried my hardest to keep up good grades to play, and weight lifted each and everyday so I could get bigger and faster so people would start noticing me more as a leader not a follower.
But anyways my first third year came around and I knew that I had a chance to be a captain. so the day of voting came along I was so pumped, then that afternoon rolled around and captains were to be announced. But when they announced the names I wasn't on there, I was so mad I thought I had deserved a spot as captain all that handwork in vein. But eventually I just realized I had another whole year left. so for another summer I worked my butt off. When my senior year rolled around I finally got to be the captain of the football team. It was the most amazing feeling in the world.
But yet then I realized I had a lot of responsibility on my shoulders, I had to be a leader and someone to look up to for the younger kids. But that still was the best moment of my life getting to be the captain of the Wayne Falcon football team. How I felt at that time? It was really hard to remember all I really remember is being so happy, but then getting really nervous because I knew the whole team was ridding on my shoulders.
I guess those feeling I had for football kinda are really close to what i am feeling right now when I'm in college, because I am really happy that I am in college and I get to see and experience a bunch of new things that I have never done before, yet I am really nervous at the same time. The reason I'm so nervous is because I'm always worrying about my grades, and I'm worried that I wont get good enough grades to get in to vet school. So I would definetly have to say the time when I was at my best or felt at my best was when I got to be the captain of my football team.

Jordan, it is good to know that you know how to set goals and achieve them. At my high school you aren't allowed to be a captain your junior year. It is exciting that you were captain and fulfilled what you wanted to be. If you can use the same approach I feel you will be able to achieve any goal you set in college and the rest of your life.
ReplyDeleteWhat positions did u play in Basketball and football?
ReplyDeleteFrom what I read, you seem like you have an amazing start to succeeding in college. Just take what you learned on the field and believe in yourself. I know you can achieve your goals.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to you when you work really hard for something and then dont get it. But it shows that you still had determination and leadership to be named captain senior year. senior year is what counts the most anyways :)
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you still went after your goal even though it didn't go the way you wanted it to in the first place. A lot of people would have just gave up.
ReplyDeleteI can very much relate to your feeling of being so excited about being in college. But at the same time being nervous about the school part with grades, tests, studying and all that fun stuff. It is awesome to get something you have worked very har for and have earned.
ReplyDeleteThe drive to want to take on that big leadership position as captain is very admirable. Some people just go out to play, you went out to be the best and to be a leader. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteBeing captain is awesome. I know how nerve wracking it is to have to sit there and wait for something. Good for you for sticking with it though.
ReplyDeleteThats awesome! Aiming to be not only a participant and a follower but also a captain is a great goal. Shooting for the stars with high goals is a great way. Its impossible to assume success without setting and working for lofty goals.
ReplyDeleteI was captain for my drumline and cross country team, which was really intense because its like you said, you feel like everyone is on your shoulders. It's good to hear that your hardwork payed off in the end and that you had a good season.
ReplyDeleteBeing someone who participated in sports also, I know that sports teaches us to be able to handle the pressure that's put on us. Sports also teaches us about hard work and working towards a goal. It's good to see that you care enough to be worried about it, but if you care then you'll work that much harder to succeed!
ReplyDeleteThos leadership skills you practiced and learned about while being team captain will help you succeed in college. Put them into practice, show people what you can do and how you are a good leader. You have the potential to really succeed. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteKeep making goals like that. Hopefully you have already determined some important and goals and know what you need to do to acheive them.
ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me what you can do when you set your mind to it, but it sounds like you got all of that figure out a long time ago. Congrats on making football captain! (Just a little late. Lol.) It sounds like you worked hard for it.
